About

Growing up in the waterfront communities of Harrison Twp. and Harsens Island gave my passion for boating a jump start to say the least. I worked my way through high school and college by working at local marinas and wooden boat restoration shops, in my spare time I either helped my father in the garage restoring one of his many boat projects or I was out on the water in my boat. At the age of 23 I became a member of the Harrison Twp. Fire Department where I am now a 20 year veteran. Being a fire fighter in a waterfront community has given me first hand experience of why it is so important to have a boat that is properly equipped, maintained, and operated. During these past years I attended Wooden Boat School in Brooklyn Maine for Marine Surveying (2002), started Marine Surveying in 2003, continuously done numerous boat repair projects and restorations, maintained a fleet of 4 award winning antique wooden boats for a private estate for 10+ years, aquired my USCG 50 Ton Masters Captain License in 2012, and have been working as a fishing and waterfowl charter captain.

My years of being fully immersed in the marine industry have given me the knowledge and tools needed to assist my clients in finding the boat that is a good fit for their needs, is properly equipped to provide them many safe years of recreation out on the water, and how to get the most value for their money.

However, being a Professional Marine Surveyor means being just that – PROFESSIONAL!!! What I mean by that is that you have my promise that I will display a QUALITY WORK ETHIC while assisting my clients. I will be on time, easy to contact, return my messages/emails promptly, and have a rapid turnaround time with my survey reports. I maintain membership with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS), American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), BUC Book Appraisal Guide, and Soldboats.com. I also reference the following organizations standards when conducting my surveys: NFPA, USCG CFR, and NADA Guide. My memberships with the previously listed organizations ensures that the survey you receive will be accepted by your lending institution and your insurance provider.

Simply stated, boats are my life. When I am not out working on a survey it’s a safe bet that I am spending time on the water with my daughter showing her how to be a safe and courteous boater.

Chris's services were exceptional. He was extremely pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. The first boat we hired Chris to survey showed high moisture content and he halted the survey to notify us immediately upon finding this. He showed us the way he determined the issue and explained what that meant in a clear, easy to understand way. He did not pressure us in any way but instead gave us all of the information we needed to make an informed decision. We made a few calls and then chose to stop the rest of the survey. We were only charged a portion of the survey fee. We called upon Chris again to survey and sea trial a different boat and were again pleased with his thoroughness. This time the results were very favorable. At the conclusion Chris went over everything he checked, gave us helpful hints on the minor repairs needed and answered all of our questions. His written report was thorough and received within a day of the inspection. We couldn't be more pleased with this experience.

I am a first-time boat buyer. I used Google Reviews to help make my surveyor selection and because of that I decided to choose Christian. I was working with a broker to purchase and he told me that Christian is "the best in the business".
My initial call to schedule the survey was answered immediately, he was very forthcoming that he was busy (I can tell you he was worth waiting for) but he would fit me in as soon as possible. He surveyed the first boat and I met him after it was complete. He took the time to go over everything with me and it was very informative (I had a ton of questions). He then provided a thorough 30-page survey report. (If you are dealing with a bank, you will need that report.) I decided to investigate another boat and of course I had him survey that as well. Part way into that survey he called me to inform me that he had found some major structural issues and asked me if I would like him to continue. Because of his findings I decided against continuing due to the severity and the potential financial ramifications of his findings. Might I add, I never would have found these structural issues.
To sum this up, Christian is on-time, not hurried, professional, patient and the service he provides is well worth the expense. I could not imagine buying a boat without him giving me the "green light". I now share the opinion of that broker, he is the best in the business!!
Thanks Christian

AMAZING and THOROUGH! Chris had prompt communication and did our boat survey in a very timely manner. I feel that Chris went went above and beyond and answered a few questions I had about my survey. I appreciate how he took the time to talk to me over the phone as well and got back me in a timely manner. I HIGHLY recommend Chris to anyone who wants a thorough, honest and complete boat survey. I will make sure to use you Chris in the future. Thanks Chris!!!

Chris was great! I called on somewhat of a short notice. He told me his schedule was full for the week I wanted the survey done, but he would keep in contact with me and let me know if there were any cancellations. Chris called a couple of days later letting me know he could fit me in. He made the trip out to the marina where the boat was in for service (it wasn't close) and conducted the survey there. After the survey was complete he called me to go over his findings and if I had any other questions. He had the report back to me less than 24 hours after conducting it. I have never personally met Chris, but I feel like he treated me like someone he knew for years. Thanks again Chris. You gave me full confidence that this is the perfect boat.
